Testing and tagging is an extremely important process in ensuring that all newly installed appliances and electronics are working safely and properly. Electronical appliances are most commonly required to undergo this procedure. Having said that, there are also many other electrical components and gadgets that need to be tested to prevent any kind of malfunctions or safety risks for users.
DCN Electrical provides on-site testing and tagging of appliances, leads and RCDs to Australian Standard AS/NZS3760 throughout Sydney.
Typically 2% of electrical tools, appliances and RCDs are unsafe. Most of these faulty electrical items have the potential to cause or contribute to an electric shock, electrocution, or electrical fire.
Our qualified test and tag technicians are available to visit your home or workplace to inspect your electrical appliances and tools, as well as any RCDs (Safety Switches) and generators.
Test and Tag (also known as Testing and Tagging) is a means of risk management in the workplace. WH&S legislation has made all levels of management personally liable for the safety of employees.
When electronic equipment goes under certain test tagging procedure, an experienced and professional tester will illustrate the potential dangers that can be associated with the machines that are being analysed.
DCN Electricals Testing and Tagging Procedure
Qualified technicians will visually inspect equipment to identify faults. Electrical tests are then completed using a Portable Appliance Tester (P.A.T.) with the equipment powered-up. When the appliance/lead passes then a SafePower printed tag is applied.
For equipment that is supplied by a separate cord, both the cord and equipment must be tested and tagged. Using our electronic data capture system, we test each asset then barcode it, correlating all data within our database. This means you can easily access your test data by simply scanning the barcode on the appliance. DCN Electrical’s team will provide you with an Appliance Test Log document, which forms a part of your WH&S risk management documentation.
If our Test and Tag Technician finds a fault
If it fails at any stage of the testing process our technician will then consult with you as to the process required to repair or dispose of the electrical item. We are also licensed electricians and can repair most faults on site.
From the initial test date and up to the renewal date, if you feel that any appliances/tools we have tested do not appear safe, just give us a call on 0404 863 975 and we will come back and re-test that piece of equipment as part of the Test Warranty at no charge.
